Self-published Authors Appreciation Week - Children's Books

There are  a tremendous amount of self published books out there.  This week The Fish Shelf, along with other bloggers, is highlighting self published authors that could use a bit more recognition.

Today, we are focusing on Children’s Literature

Mary Nhin -Has  a two series out that are good.  The first is  The UnicornPrenur  series, which features Ariel and her different interests/jobs.  The books include activities.  The other is Mini Movers and Shakers which are about real life heroes such as Serena Williams and Mae Jemison.  There is a third series, Ninja Life Hacks, as well.

Bethany Stahl’s  Save the Earth series features a different environmental theme in each  book.  She also has a very good book about mermaids, and she uses diverse characters.

Nnema Bryd’s Princess Farisi's Adventure is a wonderful story about an African princess

Alma Hammond’s  books feature animals having zany adventures.  While in some of the earlier books, the art is different – this is true for the Travel with Me series, the stories are fun and make great reading.

Lisa Van Der Wielen’s  Aqua Dog series is about a collie in Australia who loves water.  The second book in the series deals with wildfires.

Ekiuwa Aire has two books, one about Njinga of Ndongo and the other about Idia of Benin kingdom.  Both books feature the historical queens and present a child friendly biography.  They also include more facts at the end of the book.  The series is called Our Ancestors and hopefully there will be more in it.

Gina Gallois’s Awesome Opossum Stories are fun books about opossum’s.  The illustrations are wonderful.

Eric Newman’s Lundi the Lost Puffin  is about what happens when Puffins fledge in Iceland.

Katie Pye’s Fairy Tale Fraud series is a cute take on various fairy tales.

Tamara Pizzoli’s  Ghanaian Goldilocks is a really great retelling.

Caroline L. Thornton’s Once Upon and Ever After is a really good fairy tale.

Marie Agerton’s Chef-a-Rella is a good book about following your dreams.

Kathleen Quinton’s series about Quint the bookmobile is a very lovely series.

Tonya Duncan Ellis's Sophie Washington is about an 11 year old African-American girl and her various adventures.

Christopher Garcia-Halenar and Alejandro Garica-Halenar's Little Miss Crazy Hair: The Girl with the Curl - is a good book about a young girl with "crazy" hair.

Dr. Kelsi Bracmont and Takeia Marie's Simone Visits the Museum  is a good book about a girl who visits the NMAAHC in Washington DC.
