Weekly Reads March 21-27

Audio

The Italian Renaissance (Great Courses) by Kenneth R. Bartlett - An extremely good overview.  Lectures are nicely linked together too.

 Comics

Batman: The World Batman Day Special Edition -  A collection of teasers for the various Batman world variations.  Some of them look intersting

Batman Knightwatch #1 - suitable for younger comic readers.

Batman/Fortnite Zero Point #1 - This was a fun read.  I enjoyed watching Batman and Catwoman fight together.

Batgirl Begins (Arkham Knight) -  I haven't played the video game.  The comic does have nice art and does not sexualize Batgirl.

Ghost Omnibus Vol 2 - I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one.  The feminist tract is smaller and the sexualization of Ghost is more evident.

Fiction

River Thieves  by Michael Crummey - The book deals with a conflict between First Nations and Europeans.

History

Roar of the Sea by Deb Vanasse - Engaging book about the effort to save seals in the Bering Strait.

Science Fiction

More Beautiful than Death  by David Mack -  a thrilling adventure with the Enterprise Crew from the Kelvin Timeline.  Mack addresses issues surrounding the loss of Vulcan as well.

The Unsettling Stars by Alan Dean Foster - another Kelvin Timeline.  The idea behind the aliens is great but sometimes the book lags.
