The Matisse Stories  by A. S. Byatt - this slim collection features three stories inspired by Matisse paintings and deal with seeing people.

History

Ancient Jericho by Charles River Editors - good overview.  Whoever wrote this, they did a good job of dealing with religious view as well as the archeological record.

Most Notorious Art Thefts of the 20th Century by Charles River Editors - this includes the Amber Room mystery as well as none- WWII robberies such as The Mona Lisa and The Scream.

Sacred Animals in Ancient Egypt by Charles River Editors-  includes the Apis bull but also looks at the cat and dog mummies among others.

Memoirs

Consent by Vanessa Springora - Springora's memoir details her abusive "relationship" with a famous French writer and challenges the French literary world to do better.

Non-Fiction

Encouraging Book Talk in the School Library by Open University -this very short essay includes information to promote discussion about books.  Ideal for home schooling.
