Faith Hunter’s lead in the Jane Yellowrock series is Cherokee. Another popular UF series, Mercy Thompson features an Native American lead as well
Niirlit is an excellent book told from the viewpoint of teacher.
Karin Lowachee’s The Gaslight Dogs is an excellent read that deals with conflict between Indigenous populations and colonizers.
The White Dawn by James Houston is about white men meeting Inuit for the first time. Houston was important in noting the importance of Inuit Art.
Eduardo Galeno’s Memory of Fire Trilogy is about the colonization of South (and to a degree North) America told from the Indigenous point of view.
Kate Elliot’s Spiritwalker series makes use of Indigenous characters and folklore.
Known for his Westerns, Win Blevins has published several works of historical fiction that details the colonization of the American West from the Indigenous population’s point of view. His Stone Song is particularly good. His wife Meredith Blevins has written similar works of fiction. The two sometimes write together.
