Reads July 17-25

Children's

World of Weird by Tom Adams - nicely illustrated collection of real strange items.

Comics

Animal Castle Vol 1 - this graphic novel inspired by Animal Farm is a very, very pale book in comparison.

Love Vol 5: The Mastiff - The latest installment of the Love series follows a dog that does not die.

History

The Sewing Girl's Tale by John Wood Sweet - this new work looks at a rape case in the period shortly after the Revolutionary War.  Highly recommended.

Red Valkyries by Kristen R. Ghodsee - This is a collection of mini biographies about famous Soviet women.  Quite good.

Memoir

Inventory of a Life Mislaid  by Mariana Warner - Warner's memoir is mostly about her parents' marriage and a good read.

Science Fiction

The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline - a dystopian short novel that is really an analogy for the residential school system.
